Leukaemia

Emmanuel K Woyome

We fought malaria
While down the lane,
Many struggled with diarrhea.
With a knock on the door,
Here comes leukaemia
Soon the media
Suffered acute amnesia.

He says cancer
But we know he’s a miser
Whose habitats are pesticides, insecticides and the lot
Yet man with each live side by side
Under high tension cables,
With leukaemia, one could be electrified.
Curse! This has left us petrified.

Danny Whyte started this fight
In his absence,
A few are here to put things right
Today may be Danny Whyte
Tomorrow could be my wife
And next your life.

Therefore let's in one boat of pride
Help in sweeping away this tide.
Stand out of the crowd
And be proud you donated blood
To help a brother out.
