'Well Esi, what do you think? I need this place to look like a baroque shop, with mahogany patterns and enough wood carvings to demonstrate my true African traits. This all-foreign design does not become me any longer. So you see, if you can at least, get more wooden carvings on the walls, with a flowery glow, I will be ok with it.' She said.

'Okay Mrs. Ephson, so I guess you are leaving everything to us to come up with the best design? I have some samples of similar jobs we did. If you don't mind, I would like you to go through some of them and see what you like best. So we can start from there. However, if you have your own ideas, I will be pleased to listen.'

After handing over a brochure to Mrs. Ephson, she sat back and watched as she moved from picture to picture, indecisive of which one to choose. After minutes of looking and thinking, she finally settled for one, but wanted the chairs from a different picture. When that was settled, Esi bade her host goodbye and was off.

At the door, she was stopped by Freddy.

'Hi again,' he said. 'I want you to decorate my hall for me. Your company comes highly recommended. And if my mum still has you as her interior decorator, then it means you are good. I would like you to decorate my room too, I mean my bedroom too. If you like, decorate the entire house as well. Oh boy this is not coming out right. Esi would you like to marry me?'

'Mr. Ephson!' Esi screamed.

'No Freddy please, calling me Mr. Ephson makes me feel I gave birth to my siblings,' he said. 'I was watching you when you were talking to my mum. You have such patience with my mum, if you can handle my mum, you can handle any situation. So what do you think about my proposal?'

'This is preposterous. How can you suggest such a thing, you don't even know me and at least you could have asked for a date. But marriage, oh my goodness you over did it. Do you think all women are hungry for husbands, Mr. ... sorry... Freddy. No, this lady here won't marry you, if it's the last thing in the world for her to do. Gosh, I can't believe it, you have known me for a few hours and you are already proposing marriage. You must be mad, totally mad!. Now out of my way, I need to get to the office, I have things pending in the office that need taking care of. So bye Freddy, it was not nice meeting you.'

‘Hey Esi stop, please listen to me, please. I have never felt this way about a woman before, and I have never proposed marriage to any woman before. But most women I have known would jump at the opportunity to be my wife. But somehow, I don't know and more than ever I have an urge to marry you right now. It's surprising you are refusing, that's what makes it nicer. It makes me want to marry you the more. Come on, I am not that bad and I promise to be a good and well-mannered husband.'

‘This is absurdity in its highest degree. Because you have money, you think you can get any woman you want, right? Well, this woman you are not getting. Period. I don't want to act rude, so please get out of my way.'

‘Alright, I think it's not right to ask you, but I promise you Esi, one day you will be my wife and I will not rest until that day comes. Now you can go, it was nice meeting you and knowing you for these few hours.'
